The artist computers and render machines at our studio are using windows 7. We connect to one of our machines via folder sharing which has a directory containing the Deadline Repository.
We have a person who has an mac computer that needs to view the deadline monitor. However, we cannot get the Mac computer to recognize the repository. It shows up with this error (see attachment)
Is it possible to have a mac computer connect to a repository that is on a windows machine?
Absolutely! But you need to mount the Repository on every login (it’s dumb, but it’s the way Mac OS works).
Once it’s mounted, they should be able to use Deadline as normal assuming the host name or IP address in “[repo]/settings/dbConnect.xml” are resolvable from that Mac.
To make it easier to connect to the Repository, you can add it to the user’s login items. If you really know what you’re doing you can set up the automounter to mount the share on access, but this is a pain and you’ll need to put the user name and password, if any, in plain text in the configuration file.
