v3.1.0.35390 Issues

Hi,

Couple of issues I have found in the monitor:

  1. Selecting a slave in the slave list which is say, half-way down the vertical scroll list in the Deadline monitor is shifted back to the default vertical scroll-position when you hit refresh. It would be much nicer to have the option (under monitor options?) to “Maintain Slave List vert. scroll position upon Refresh” or something like that…Its really annoying if you are watching a couple of slected slaves on their progress, just to hit refresh and they disappear off the screen! Guess we have too many slaves…!
  2. Under job properties (3dsMax job) in the monitor, the “3dsmax” and “machinelimit” tabs have got a GUI position problem, which results in the far-right hand side of the dialog window being cropped off! The vertical scroll-bar is almost unusable as a result. Might be a problem with other job properties windows as well? Not sure, need to check

Hey Mike,

For the first problem, you can right-click on the slaves and select Refresh Slaves. This just refreshes the selected slaves, and doesn’t change the scroll position. This also works with the job list.

For the second problem, we see the problem with the machine limit page, and we’ll get this fixed. However, we’re not seeing a problem with the 3dsmax tab page (see below). Maybe we’ve already fixed that problem, so if you can confirm (or send a screenshot), that would be great!

Cheers,

Note that the horizontal scrollbar here is normal, and doesn’t cut off any of the controls.

Ah. Didn’t realise that the horizontal scroll bar in the 3dsmax tab is actually designed! In that case, its just the machine limit vertical scroll that is a problem. (If you add a couple of blacklist/whitelist slaves, you’re soon see the crop problem on the far right).
With regard the “refresh slave” button (right-click menu, for example)…that’s cool, just thought straight out of the box, we would want to refresh the slaves but hold the vertical scroll position for the user? When you hit “refresh” on everything in the monitor, everything seems to hold its position (which I think is quite nice), except the slave list…just a thought.

Just checked out the full refresh, and the job list jumps to the highest selected item as well. The main issue is that the scroll position isn’t always reliable when new items are being added to the list (which is possible when doing a full refresh). So to ensure that you can see your selection after a refresh, we ensure that the top most selected item is visible. That’s why you get the jump.

Because the right-click refresh only refreshes the selected items, new ones aren’t being added, so there is no concern about you losing sight of the selected items.

I guess it would be possible to try and be a bit smarter when doing a full refresh, but since the right-click option already accomplishes this…
