Is there a way to view the current file being rendered, as it is rendered?

The only application which has this type of feature available to us is 3ds Max, using the viewport option.
Can a 3rd party develop a script, plug-in, SDK for this feature?
It’s currently not possible to view an image which is partially written to disk, but you can view any completed output image in monitor.

You could also use a remote viewing application to login to a remote machine. We have scripts within monitor that support various remote viewing software that you may have already.
+1 I would love a plugin for 3ds max to let you spy on a frame buffer while rendering as a service remotely.
Vlado says it’ll be a feature of Vray 3.0 in the future (and is already a feature of stand-alone).
