How does the “Wake On Lan” feature work?



I can manually right mouse click and boot machines, but if they are off then Deadline won’t automaticly turn them on. Is this correct?

Are you referring to power management? If Wake On Lan is enabled in power management, and you have the power management application running, then Deadline will start up machines if they are required to render a job. This combined with the idle shutdown feature can help you save on energy costs when the farm is sitting idle.

Hmmm… does this power management application come with Deadline? How can you run it on the machine if it’s turned off?

It’s a server like application that can be found in your bin directory, and the machine that’s running it shouldn’t have the idle shutdown feature enabled. Check out the documentation here:
