Weird Issue

Hello,

I am rendering with max2012 and I have a sphere that I have set as a matte object via a selection set.

When krakatoa goes to render the matte sphere, it crashes max. I am using max 2012 sp2 with kraktoa 1.6.1 on windows 7 x64.

any suggestions on this?

thanks.

I made a new sphere with no material settings on it and that seemed to have fixed it.

What was the material assigned to the Sphere?
We had reports of problems with Brazil r/s 2 (which we fixed in v2.0.2), and a report about finalRender materials rendering transparent.
Krakatoa has to evaluate the material on the matte object since it respects the opacity mapping (fully opaque pixels will show particles through).
If you can reproduce the problem and let us know which material it was or what maps it had, we will look into fixing this in the current build. Of course, we cannot do much for 1.6 at this point.

bobo,

I looked at the material and it’s a standard material with textures in the Diffuse, Specular color, Self-illumination and Bump Map.

As a note, the bump map is a normal map texture which could be a factor.

I hope this helps. Let me know if you need any more info on this.

Thanks, we will try to reproduce the problem!

Thanks for the bug report! I fixed this today, and it will be in the next release of Krakatoa.
