Weird problem - rendering hair and fur

I just recently moved the repository to a new share on our network(ran the repository install and had it insall there. Then on a few slaves ran the change repository command to the new location). I have run this file through the farm many times before, but now it gives this message and seems to be stuck. Checking the slaves and 3Ds Max is using 6GB of memory and it keeps slowly climbing.

It has access to this folder, and copying/pasting R:\rendertest\wright\ brings the folder right up.

I’m seeing this in the log for one of these slaves.

It has access to this folder, and copying/pasting R:\rendertest\wright\ brings the folder right up. And I created some test files from the account that the slave is running on just fine.

Any help/ideas are appreciated. I’m running out of things to try before I roll back to the old repository.

That is really strange. Have you tried submitting a very simple scene (just a cube and a camera) that outputs to the same location? That could help determine if the problem is just with this particular scene file, or if it’s a more general problem.

 This was my problem. I have 3 render accounts and gave full access to the 2 that were not doing this job  . Sorry for wasting your time.

However, the last thing I’ve tried to accomplish that I’ve been unable to… We have way to many people submitting jobs with numbers on the end

ex. jdtest824.jpg . So it renders

jdtest8240075
jdtest8240076
jdtest8240077, etc.

So when the quicktime plugin kicks in, it errors out
<<
Exception during render: An error occurred in RenderTasks(): Error: Input file “R:\rendertest\jdtest0000075.jpg” does not exist (System.Exception)
at Deadline.Plugins.ScriptPlugin.RenderTasks(Int32 startFrame, Int32 endFrame, String& outMessage)

Is there a way to automatically put a “_” underscore at the end of the file like I’ve seen you recommend before?

I’ve played with the SubmitMaxToDeadline_NameFormats.ini file a lot but could never get anything to work. I’ve also not had any luck finding a solution to this on the forum.

Thanks again for your help.

Hi Justin,

Our 3dsmax Sanity Check already looks for this:
thinkboxsoftware.com/deadlin … nity_Check

If users enable the option to run the sanity check prior to submission, they will be notified of this problem and they can then change it.

Cheers,
