Welcome To GENOME Beta

Welcome to a new Thinkbox Beta!

We would like to thank you for jumping into the unknown - we received dozens of Beta applications within 24 hours of our announcement, and nobody even knew what we were about to test… So thank you very much for your dedication and trust.

We will reveal the details around the product very soon, in the mean time, you are free to guess.
HINT: It is an acronym!

Anything Thinkbox always piques my interest! Looking forward to finding out more. You are great developers and I hope PRTs and xMesh become standards across platforms.

You guys have a propensity for driving my curiosity batty

LOL well I guess I had something in the ballpark with GEnerateNOde but failed miserably with the last half.

This is pretty interesting to say the least, I am very intrigued by this: “Particle Velocity Sum” example.

We were thinking along the lines of “GEometry NOde Magma Editing”

Here is another Work In Progress related to particles…

Hah, seriously? I better brush up on my mAgma

mmmmmmm…I have been waiting a while for this :smiling_imp:

neat stuff! going to be interesting to wrap my brain around…

Looks really handy !
I imagine that we can build some new plugin/modifier with this GENOME and share them with the thinkfrost community
Like a new sort of maxscript in visual node mode.

Or i’m totally wrong ?

Not totally wrong

One can build a new modifier and save a Preset with its logic that can be loaded by other users of Genome.
A preset is a MAXScript describing the rebuilding of the flow from scratch. It is also compatible with Krakatoa, as long as the operators used in the flow are available in both Krakatoa Magma and Genome. For example, the Push modifier flow can be loaded in both and will do exactly the same - push a vertex or particle along its Normal (as long as the particle has a Normal channel, of course).

But there are some licensing limitations that would prevent people who don’t own Genome from using that Preset for free.
In the current implementation, both sides must have a licensed version of Genome to load, modify or save Presets.

BUT you can send a MAX file containing a Genome modifier to anyone and if they install the demo version of Genome (without a license), the modifier will work as expected and will also render on any number of network machines without looking for license. The user of the demo version of Genome will NOT be allowed to modify the flow (add/remove nodes or created/delete connections), or copy the modifier to another object. He would be allowed to change exposed properties and animate their controllers though, or move the modifier up or down the stack.

Also, if you have a company with 10 people but only 1 Genome license, the Genome license will only be required to open the Editor for creation or modification of the flow. You can have all 10 people opening and using MAX files containing Genome modifiers without pulling a license as long as they don’t attempt to use the Editor. The same applies to using MAXScript commands to edit the flow.

All this is explained here:

Sweet mother of jesus thats awesome!
