Hi, I noticed that of our 3ds max tile renders failed since upgrading to 7.1 and only recently discovered that unchecking the box “Use Draft to Assemble Tiles” made it work again.
Now I’m wondering… what exactly is the difference between this and the Draft assembler?
Also, I read that Draft is included with an active support contract which we have, so I’m not sure why Draft assembler fails. Does this require a separate installation? Or maybe our licences need updating?
Tile Assembler is now EOL (End of Life) for Thinkbox development and is now replaced by DTA (Draft Tile Assembler) which supports more channels created in VRay VFB for example, image compression, EXR data window, better memory consumption, etc.
DTA doesn’t require a checkout of a Draft license, but just needs to ‘see’ the “FEATURE draft” in your Flexlm license file running on your license server. A Draft license is time-locked to expire on your 12-month ‘annual’ support renewal.
If you got an error message, then please do post it, as it’s probably a bug. However, as per your other thread, it sounds like your not running v7.2.0.18, so the first thing to do, would be get the upgrade as this has fixes for a few known DTA errors via a 3dsMax tile/region/jigsaw job.
Note, to run Deadline v7.2.0.18, you will need an updated flexlm license file which includes not just Deadline 7.2 but also Draft 1.4 support as well. (Sales know this, but just so you understand, Draft gets updated just like Deadline does, when it comes to Flexlm license file version).
Finally, Draft is already installed as per your Deadline install. Look at your <repo_path>/draft/ for more details and example code as well as our docs: docs.thinkboxsoftware.com/produc … mentation/
