Hi there!
Yesterday I’ve met Mike Owen at the “The Foundry Roadshow” here in Munich, Germany. After his presentation of Deadline 8 I asked him if I need a new version of mongoDB to run Deadline 8. He said yes and mentioned mongoDB 3.x. Now I looked into the user manual for Deadline 8 and found in the specs that you mention “MongoDB 2.6.1” or later.
So will Deadline 8 still work with my mongoDB 2.6.3 server that I’m using for Deadline 7 at the moment? Would there be any big advantages of MongoDB 3.x for my relatively small farm here (about 30-40 machines and less than 1000 jobs in the database)?
Thanks, Abraham
Hey Abraham,
Oops, I just checked and our current 8.0 website docs here:
docs.thinkboxsoftware.com/produc … l#database
never got updated with this key information. I’ll share this snippet from our release notes and go ahead and update the docs page for the next build we release!
Updated to MongoDB 3.0.6
Deadline now ships with MongoDB 3.0.6, with version 3.0.0 being the new minimum requirement for Deadline 8. Deadline utilizes MongoDB’s new collection-level locking functionality, which simplifies the data layout because data in the database no longer needs to be split up into separate databases.
Good to meet you!
Mike
