Windows 7 - UI issues

Couple of things I noticed, whilst playing with Deadline v4.0sp1 with Windows 7:

  1. Bit surprised to find that if you double-click the launcher icon, nothing happens. Kind of half expected the monitor to boot up? (Windows 7 allows for a fancy left-click menu system to work now as well as the traditional right-click system…)
  2. Quite a few of the submission script windows are not big enough to accommodate the Aero default Windows 7 interface. Loss of UI elements, etc.
  1. Double-clicking on the Launcher doesn’t do anything on any operating system, although I think it used to back in the 2.x days. We’ve added this to the wish list.

  2. We can reproduce this. We’ve logged this as a bug.

Thanks!

It seems quite a few of the programs that have been recently re-compiled for Win7, have a nice right-click feature on their particular programs when it is present in the “taskbar” within the Win7 UI.
ie: boot up deadline monitor and you can right-click the application icon on the taskbar and could potentially add some functionality here…just a thought…
Additionally, the launcher icon in the system tray, could now also have a left-click feature set as well as the right-click standard feature set…might be worth considering…?

Yeah, it’s something worth considering, although I’m not sure what we would add that isn’t already available in the right-click menus. I’m sure the right idea will come along at some point.
