We can specify the filter size but not the filter itself. I might want to apply unsharp mask, or dilate/erode operations. What do you think?

Those two examples are operations, not strictly filters. I can see the advantage of both, but I think the filter would be the easier of the two to implement, though I don’t know if it would help my sampling issues with voxels.
