Dependent jobs problem

I am having a lot of problems with dependent jobs never being put back active after the dependent job is completed.

Even if i check the dependency in the monitor, when I close the window Deadline ask me if I would like to activate the suspended job, I click yes… still nothing it stay paused.

I tested different Job Scan Frequency… I tried 5 and 95… both time I was relaunching both monitor and slave, and in the slave I was forcing a get new task many times.

Anyone having theses problems as well?

Hi Sylvain,

Are your jobs in the Suspended state, or the Pending state? Only dependent jobs in the Pending state will be released - you would have to resume a Suspended dependent job so that it enters the Pending state.

If this still doesn’t seem to work with a Job Scan Frequency of 95, check out this thread:

Maybe that might be the cause of the problem. I’ve run a few tests on our farm and the dependencies seem to be working fine.

Ho… pending state… I saw that in 2.0 and I though it was not used yet… The problem is that I am using a extremely modified submitter script and this script was doing the old way. When I was sending a job with dependencies, I was suspending it… I guess I don’t need to do it anymore.

Right. If there are dependencies for the job when it is submitted, Deadline will automatically put it in the Pending state.
