Best practice is to install the DB/Repo pair on another machine and pull a couple of Slaves over for testing. Having a staging area for development is pretty worthwhile, and Deadline’s been designed to hop between repos pretty easily. You can put those test machines back on the farm when you’re done development by choosing “Change Repository” in the Monitor.
