Feature request - scriptable style colors

Hello,

I would like to suggest a style UI feature.

It would be great to have 1 or 2 custom Style Colors that can be triggered to change color due to custom specific custom scripted execution or by custom value.

Our use-case - after jobs completion, we are using script that makes draft preview from completed jobs. So If we could use a slightly different color on the jobs that are submitted through our script, it will help us to visually distinguish already submitted to shotgun previews, and the jobs that are completed but have not been submitted yet to shotgun by our draft script.
1 or 2 custom color styles should be sufficient and wont cause ton of user color craziness.

Thanks,
Martin

Hi Martin,

I moved your post out of the Feature Blog topic into its own topic, as it did not relate directly to the Feature Blog.

I’ve talked with the dev team about this one before.

My idea was to provide custom colouring rules based on a similar system as we have for filtering (if text or value this, apply colour that). From there we would promote all of the colouring we do now into those rules by default and allow you to change them there instead of the theme (mildly tricky, may need placeholders to use theme’s values).

For you, then you would add custom values to one of the ExtraInfoX parameters and colour on that. This would be slightly more efficient than running a script for it because the value would be cached in that parameter.

I don’t know if my idea will ever actually happen, but it’s kind of fun to think about. Do you think that would hit the right notes for you?

Hi,

Yes, I think the ability to change or alter the current color based on extrainfo value is totally useful and valid for us.

I think it will a nice feature.

Thanks,
Martin

Ok, apologies for not making a new post instead.

Thanks,
M
