Duplicate AMI

Is it possible to duplicate your AMI to modify it. I can understand that it’s not possible to modify AMi with preinstalled MayaIO with Cloud Rights however we’d like to use you clean linux AMI with just deadline client and install there own software. When i try to copy that AMI via AWS Console it says:

You do not have permission to access the storage of this ami

Thank you !

Hi! You won’t be able to copy one of our AMIs directly from the AWS console. However what you can do is start an EC2 instance with that AMI and then create an Image from that EC2 instance.

You can do that by selecting the AMI in the AWS console and clicking launch.
Follow the instructions to start up the EC2 instance.
Once it’s started you can right click on that EC2 instance and select Image -> Create Image.
Give it an image name and then click Create Image.

Hope this helps!

I’m waiting for some info to be merged into our official docs to outline how to do this more clearly. In the mean time, feel free to ask any questions over here about it!
