slave remote control disabled

It was brought to my attention that after upgrading to 2.6.24779, the items normally found in the “remote control” menu item are greyed out and not available.

In the monitor, there are times when you want to restart a slave or perform a similar remote command. By selecting “super user mode” from the tools menu and by right clicking on the name of the slave in the list at the bottom of the monitor, these menu items were previously accessible. Now they are there but all greyed out and can not be selected -(start slave, stop slave, restart slave, etc…)

any ideas as to why these helpful commands might not be accessible?

Hi Matt,

In Deadline 2.6 and later, the remote control features are disabled by

default because of the fact that the the Deadline Launcher application

allows you to run aribitrary commands on remote machines, which can be a

security risk.

To enable the remote control features, open the Deadline Monitor, enter

Super User mode, then select Tools -> Configure Repository Options. When

the dialog opens, select the Remote Administration option from the list

on the left, then enable the feature. It may take up to 10 minutes for

every machine to recognize the change, so you can restart the machines

to have them recognize the change immediately.

Cheers,

what port does remote control run on?

5042

Cheers,
