repository setting got trashed

Hi, my repository settings just resetted again today. They where resetted yesterday, I fixed them, then today it append again…

What can be causing this? I had to turn the file in read-only to make sure it doesn’t get resetted again.

Thanks

Strange. Check to make sure that the client software on all of your

machines is the same version. You can do this in either the Monitor or

the Deadline Configuration tool (the latter will show the version number

for all machines with the client software installed, not just the

machines with the slave app running on them).

Cheers,

Yes they all use the same version.

could it append when I edit the options, sometimes the monitor fails to save the xml file due to network lag or something like that, the option reverts to default then get saved when the monitor closes?

Those options only get saved when you click OK in the repository options

dialog, but your post made me think of another possibility:

When Deadline goes to get the network options from the file, it first

checks if that file exists. If the file doesn’t exist, it creates the

default and returns the contents of that. Perhaps for a split second,

due to the network lag, Deadline doesn’t think the file exists, so it

creates the default one which overwrites the original.

This is how a lot of things work in Deadline, such as pools, job

categories, etc. If this is indeed the case, it might explain that

“disappearing pools” issue that comes up once in a blue moon. Perhaps

Deadline could make a couple of attempts to check if the file exists,

then overwrite it with the default if necessary.

Cheers,

Having a double check would be nice.

Like you said this only append once every blue moon, but it can cause a lot of problems when it append during a tight deadline period.

Thanks for looking into this
