what exaclty means the "Submit maya scene file" checkbutton?

hi there, i was wandering if the “submit maya scene file” save a complete maya scene with all the layer, if checked.

if so…it means that each layer is saved with all the info of all the other layer;

instead if i do a render layer whitout checking that button i save only the info inside the layer i wanna render.

do i undestand it correctly?

thanks bye

mat

Hi Mat,

The “Submit Maya Scene File” option, if checked, submits the Maya scene

file with the job to the repository. Then when the slaves go to render

the job, they copy the scene file locally and open it there (this can

save on some network traffic). The scene is submitted as is, so no

changes are made based on render layers or anything else.

If left unchecked, the scene is not submitted with the job, and instead

the slaves open the maya scene file directly from the location it was

submitted from. Because of this, the maya scene has to be on a network

share so the slaves have access to it. A benefit to this is that in the

middle of a render you can suspend the job, tweak the scene file on the

network, then resume the job, allowing you to make changes without

having to resubmit.

Hope this clears things up!

Cheers,
