Can't save half-rendered image to file.

Hi!

I have another problem with Deadline. The situation is not usual, I don’t know if it’s a bug or not, but I think this kind of report may helps you to make your product better

I’m using 3dsmax8 + vray renderer.

Sometimes, when render time gets too high and frame is partly rendered and I want to save already rendered part to the file I just hit “save bitmap” button in the frame buffer window and save image to the some temp.jpg file.

It’s ok when you render it localy, but with the Deadline it doesn’t work. When I hit “save bitmap” button rendering just crashes.

I don’t know exactly but I think it may be some problem with the part of the deadling which handles pop-up dialog boxes.

He Sergo,

This isn’t really a bug, as the rendering process wasn’t intended to be

interactive. It would make sense that the render would exit because

Deadline would detect the save file dialog that pops up and end the

render. This functionality is built in to prevent pop-ups from stalling

a render completely. However, it is possible to configure Deadline to

ignore specific pop-ups, which might work in this case. If you can send

the error report that is generated after the render exits, we should be

able to get the pop-up dump and let you know how you could modify your

3dsmax8 plugin to ignore this pop-up.

Thanks!

It seems I had to post all my problems in one topic.

Yes, I’ll send you error report soon. Is it possible to turn off this ignoring at all? Is it possible for Deadline to show all pop-up without crashing the rendering process, just like 3dsmax’s built-in render manager does?

Thank you guys for such a powerful product. I have some problems with it, but it seems that these are my problems and not Deadline’s  And your trial policy is just wonderful - I mean offering deadline for free for two-node renderfarms.

It isn’t possible yet to disable the pop-up handling completely (you can

only ignore/handle specific ones), but this will be an option in the

next release. However, we probably wouldn’t recommend this with 3dsmax,

because there are cases where max will display a popup that will halt

rendering until someone comes along and hits the OK button. That would

pose a huge problem if you have a bunch of rendering jobs going

overnight (for example) and the first job gets halted by this one popup.
