XSI 6.02 Error 2008

I'm doing some test renders of XSI scenes today and I've got 12 machines in my render farm.  It is split up 5 and 7 in each room, and they are different computers in each room.

The 5 up front rendered my frames with no errors but the 7 in back came up with the following script.

Is this something I need to fix in the render plugin settings?  It's already set to XSI 6.02.

Thanks.

Hi Alex,

It looks like those 7 machines may not have the Y: mapped properly based

on the information printed out at the beginning of the log:

0: STDOUT: ’ INFO : 4034 - Loaded scene was created with build number:

6.02.2007.0613 - compatibility version: 600

0: STDOUT: ’ INFO : 4000 - Drive ‘y:’ marked as invalid for the next 300

seconds

Pictures\aleve_box_bump_v02.tif

0: STDOUT: ’ WARNING : 3033 - Unable to resolve path:

Can you confirm whether or not Y: is mapped on those machines, and that

those machines have the necessary permission to read/write to Y:?

Another test you could try is to open the same scene in XSI on one of

those 7 machines and see if you can perform a local render.

From looking at the output, it’s very unlikely that this has anything

to do with the XSI plugin settings in Deadline.

Cheers,

wow, what a simple fix.  thanks ryan.

alright I've got another question.

I'm attempting to render a scene from XSI and the following error comes up in the log.

Scheduler Thread - Render Thread 0 threw an error:
Scheduler Thread - Exception during render: ' ERROR : 2356 - This plug-in is not installed: finalRender Options

I don't know how related this is, but my supervisors are also asking me how to go about using deadline with our plugins, how do I configure that?

Hi Alex,

ERROR : 2356 - This plug-in is not installed: finalRender Options

It simply sounds like the finalRender plugin for XSI isn’t installed,

and I would imagine installing it on your slave machines would solve the

problem (any plugins you want to use in your XSI scenes would have to be

installed on all of your slave machines).

Cheers,

Where do I get the finalRender plugin from?

I had this problem with Maya too. Because I had one machine with Final Render, the final render nodes propagated from scene to scene because objects where created in the Maya that had Final Render installed.

I had to run a script through the whole 3d object library to delete all the final render nodes.

Maybe you can write a script (or have someone write it for you) to remove final render nodes before submitting the scene to deadline

Sylvain Berger | Technical Director | Alpha Vision

I was assuming that this finalRender plugin is required by XSI scene

you’re trying to render (it’s an XSI plugin, not a Deadline plugin).

It’s likely that the plugin exists on the workstation the scene was

created on, and thus is required by the scene in order to render.

It’s important to note that Deadline is not the cause of the error in

this case. The ideal situation would be to install all the XSI plugins

on your slave nodes that exist on your workstations and ensure these

plugins remain synched. If a scene is created on a workstation that uses

a plugin that is not installed on the render slaves, it would make sense

that you would get errors like this.

Hope this helps!

Cheers,

Yes Ryan this is what is happening.  We have freelancers creating scenes that are then sent to the farm to be rendered.  I'm new to a large portion of the systems, but I've been informed that these plugins (or add-ons for XSI) can be transferred from machine to machine easily so this is not a problem for us.

Thanks Ryan.

Ryan,

Been rendering all night and this new error popped up.  Not sure what it means, could you help? Thanks.

Hi Alex,

Maya is printing out these error messages near the bottom of the log:

Error: line 1: Reading of binary file “s06_render.mb” failed.

Cannot load scene “c:\deadline\slave\jobsData\s06_render.mb”. Please

check the scene name.

So obviously there is an issue with loading the scene file,

unfortunately there is no indication as to why this is. I recall that

earlier versions of Maya didn’t like filenames with spaces or

underscores in the path, but I don’t think that that is a problem

anymore. Maybe try submitting the same scene without the underscore in

the name to see if it makes a difference. I doubt it, but at least it

eliminates one possibility.

Maybe try opening the scene on one of the render nodes that is giving

you this error. Copy the scene locally first, then launch Maya and open

it from there. If there is an issue with the scene file, maybe Maya will

give you a better error message.
