User rights

Hello, I have an older version of deadline… I believe about 2 revisions back. Anyways I have an issue where a user is not able to manage pools, delete other users pools etc. All the other users have admin type rights and work fine. This user also used to have admin rights but they seem to have disappeared, I’ve looked through the menus to compare users and nothing looks out of the ordinary.

Edit: User can start/stop jobs, manage pools etc when logged on to different profile in XP PRO…

Which version are you currently running? You can check the About option

in the Monitor to find out.



Also, when you say that the user cannot manage jobs, pools, etc, is it

the case that:

  1. the appropriate menu items aren’t available when they right-click on

    the jobs/slaves in the Monitor, or
  2. that the menu items are available, but the changes they make don’t stick?



    The reason I ask is that the Deadline user does not tie into Window’s

    profiles at all. So if it’s case (1), they should just be able to enter

    super user mode to perform all those operations. If it’s case (2), they

    may not have full read/write permissions to the repository, so their

    changes don’t stick.



    A few versions back, we added more control over user permissions (what

    users can and cannot do), which can be accessed from the tools menu in

    the monitor while in super user mode. If the version you’re running

    supports this, maybe you just have to tweak some settings here.

I’ve checked the file/user permissions on the repository in windows and it’s not that. Where else would I check for this?

Is the problem case (1) or case (2) from my previous post? If it’s

neither, can you provide some more details to clarify?
