NOTICE OF KNOWN BUG WITH AUTO-UPGRADE:
There is also a known bug when auto-upgrading from a version older than 8.1.4.6 – the auto-upgrade will fail to set execute permissions on the newly-added “deadlinesandbox” shell script on Linux/Mac OS. For this reason, we recommend using the Client installers to upgrade to this revision from versions older than 8.1.4.6, or be sure to manually add execute permissions to that script after the auto-upgrade.

Full release notes can be found in the Deadline 8.1 documentation (see Downloads below).

What’s new in Deadline 8.1.5.2 (Beta 5)
This release includes several bug fixes and improvements; it also includes all the fixes made in Deadline 8.0, up to (and including) version 8.0.9.1.

Application Improvements
General Client Improvements

  • Fixed a bug that was providing Auxiliary Files to event plugins out of order.
  • Fixed a bug on Linux that was preventing the client apps from finding a Mono library on startup.

Launcher Improvements

  • Fixed a bug where Remote Commands being run as user by the launcher would not resolve aliases or shell built-ins.
  • Re-worked the Linux ‘init.d’ script for the Launcher Service so that it is more consistent at shutting down and starting the Launcher, regardless of whether or not the Launcher has been restarted externally or crashed.

Monitor Improvements

  • Rearranged User Group Permissions dialog to have its feature categories ordered alphabetically.
  • Fixed Drag & Drop to work properly onto file/folder pickers on Linux and OS X.

Proxy Server Improvements

  • Added support for larger file transfers via the Proxy.

Slave Improvements

  • Added a new call-back to DeadlinePlugins named ‘ModifyCommandLineCallback’. It will be invoked with the commandLine, arguments, and workingDirectory parameters, and expect a tuple/list containing modified versions of them to be returned. This will allow for last-second modification to command lines for any plugin that launches sub-processes via the DeadlinePlugin utility functions.
  • Added a percentage-based memory usage option to idle detection.

Integration Improvements
3ds Max

  • Sped up White/Blacklist controls in SMTD.

After Effects

  • The integrated submitter will now properly submit the Scene file as an auxiliary file alongside the Job.

Cinema 4D

  • Added the ‘Group’ option to the Arnold Export job type.
  • Removed Arnold output override from C4D -> Arnold jobs.

Command Script

  • Changed the ‘default’ shell to pull the current user’s default shell ($SHELL) if present.
  • Changed the shell execution to be done via the DeadlinePlugin utility functions, so that ModifyCommandLine will work appropriately.
  • Quotes in provided command lines will now be escaped properly when passing them to the shell for execution.
  • Exit codes are now checked properly (and will generate Job errors on non-zero) when using shell execution.

Maya

  • The Maya integrated submitter should now properly respect the DEADLINE_PATH environment var if set on the Mac.

Nuke

  • The Nuke integrated submitter should now properly respect the DEADLINE_PATH environment var if set on the Mac.

Softimage

  • The Softimage integrated submitter should now properly respect the DEADLINE_PATH environment var if set on the Mac.

V-Ray DBR

  • Added a separate timeout that is used in between DR sessions (no longer shared with timeout for starting the initial DR session).
