Hi,
First of all, I should point out I’m not a ‘Maya user’, nor have I rendered anything before.
I’m trying to set up a test farm here at the University where I work, with a view to purchasing licenses for a small render farm (mainly to use with Maya 7).
I’ve set up one machine as a repository (and also slave), and another as a slave. I have a small job (containing 10 frames of a ball bouncing) which I’m trying to render. AFAIK I’ve set up everything correctly on both the repository and also the slave(s).
When I submit the job (from the Monitor) it appears fine, and he slaves pick up the job fine (and the Maya output window appears). However, rendering progress sits forever on 0% (even when refreshed)
I’ve checked the usual things;
-Deadline is picking up Maya’s exe correctly.
-The project opens fine in Maya.
-I’ve tried sending the project from/to both the repository and the slave.
Here’s the slave log;

What am I doing wrong?
Hi Chris,
Try using “C:\Program Files\Alias\Maya7.0\bin\Render.exe” as the render
executable instead of “C:\Program Files\Alias\Maya7.0\bin\maya.exe”.
Render.exe is Maya’s command line application. You can change the render
executable for Maya 7 in the Deadline Monitor while in Super User mode.
Select Tools -> Configure Plugins, and then select the Maya plugin from
the list on the left.
Cheers,
- Ryan
