3delight for Maya

It is possible to submit a maya scene to render with 3delight for maya? Everything I have tried seems to fail. I can get the scene to load properly and it appears to even initialize 3delight but simply renders black frames, at about 1 frame every 3 seconds. I can load the scenes properly from within the maya gui on each of the render machines so they are seeing all the network setup properly. I can manually render from each machine as well.

Any help would be appreciated.

Hi Christian,

The only way to render with 3delight for Maya is to use the MayaBatch

plugin (there is a checkbox to use MayaBatch in the submission dialog).

Last we checked, it wasn’t possible to render with 3delight for Maya

from the command line, which is why the normal Maya plugin wouldn’t work.

The other solution is to export the Maya scene to RIB files, and then

use the RIB submitter in the Monitor to submit the RIB files and render

them with the 3delight standalone renderer. Other people have used this

method and it seems to work well for them.

Hope this helps!

Cheers,

Thanks for the response. Submitting rib files works great. We will use this workflow.

It seems that I remember reading that a new feature in 3delight v7 is the ability to batch render from maya, since it is now registered in render globals. Anyway, no such luck with any of my tests.

Thanks for the info. We’ll look at 3delight v7 for Maya and see if we

can support it for the next release.

Cheers,
