Don’t you just love computers?
I just updated our 3DS Max 2013 setup - made sure all the third-party stuff was good, ran tests on the farm, everything worked.
Then installed 2014, added the third-party plugins, again it all worked great.
Then removed it from the “Test” pool and it picked up a 2013 job. Everything seemed fine except it’s not actually rendering.
Max appears to have loaded the scene and then just sits there.
I’m not by any means well-versed in the workings of Max, so wondering if anyone has any thoughts?
Simon
Hi,
Bit confused. Are you saying that Max2014 is having difficulty trying to render a Max2013 scene? (This is not supported by Autodesk).
Or by installing Max2014 + I assume the latest Backburner version, then the slave now fails to render the previously working Max2013 version on this particular slave? (I think this is what you are asking).
Could you provide a log report so we can see what is happening and what settings you are using?
Thanks,
Mike
Yes, the 2013 install is no longer rendering a 2013 job. Will do a run and send that in a moment!
Log attached.

Max2013 is failing to actually boot up on “render-e20”. Can you login to this machine and try starting up Max 2013 in GUI mode (will auto start a 30 day free eval if you don’t have a floating license spare). Hopefully, there will be a message which explains what has happened to it since you installed Max2014 by the side of it.
