I’ve written a “update” program that we want to use as an executable proxy for 3dsmax (it will obviously keep all the settings and plugins up-to-date for our servers)…
While I know deadline supports this kind of feature, my questions is this.
The program itself is a 32 bit app, launching a 64 bit app…is this going to cause any issues to deadline?!? So long as it knows the process to monitor, does it care?
Cheers
Shane
Hi Shane,
The only problem you would run into is when you force Deadline to render
with a particular build of 3dsmax (32bit or 64bit). Deadline checks the
bitness of the executable it’s using for rendering, and in your case,
this would be the proxy file. Because of this, it will think your 64 bit
installation of 3dsmax is actually 32 bit.
We use a proxy executable here as well for synching purposes, and to
workaround this problem, we simply built 32 bit and 64 bit versions of
our proxy application and used them where it was appropriate.
Cheers,
- Ryan
