3dsmax - resubmit missing frames

Hi, might have been asked before, but I cant find the answer, and in a mad rush!!

I’ve rendered a seq as every 4th frame, and now we’d like to render every 2nd, is there a way to resubmit the job within Deadline so it will ignore the rendered frames, and only do the new frames?

Thanks,
Mark

Not 100% sure since we don’t really render that much from 3dsmax anymore. But probably worth a test.
From submission window --> render dialog (or straight from max render dialog) tick skip existing images. I think deadline will respect that.

oh yes thats a good point. I hoped to resubmit through Deadline, as the file is slow to open, but I wonder if that settings is accessible in the job properties. Thanks, I’ll try that!

Great question! We don’t have a lot of threads on this one.

Option #2: You can also re-submit the job with all frames and a task size of 1, then use the “scan for existing output” feature.

Hi,
So I re-submitted the job, and did the scan for existing output, and it didnt find anything. Not sure why, the other job has done 150 odd of 600!

Ah, the ‘scan for missing output’ requires a known output path. If the job was submitted from the Monitor without an override for example, we might not know where the files can be found. From the “Job Output” section that SFMO lives in:

Note that the availability of these options is based on how much information about the job’s output could be determined at the time the job was submitted. In some cases, the submitter can’t determine where all or some of the job’s output will be saved to, so these options won’t be available.

yes it was a resubmit via the monitor. If I resent it from within max, I could have using the skip existing frames option I guess?

Yup! General rule is that if Draft can work with your output (Max, Maya, C4D, etc) you’ll be able to do that trick. Mainly because Draft also needs to know where your output is to do its magic.
