3dsmax2011 and Deadline 4.0 SP1 unable to render

in the last few days (with bobos help) we got max2010 and deadline 4.0 SP1 working smoothly.

we jumped in and upgraded to max2011 to test before production use
and now i cant render at all on the wall (1 XP test machine), brazil or default renderer…

i have tried rendering locally on this machine (loading max and rendering) and thats fine.

this is the report from deadline

I have to ask the same question I asked in your other post:
viewtopic.php?f=11&t=3965#p15861

Did you install the Deadline 4.0 SP1 repository over top of your existing 3.1 repository? If you did, can you try setting up a “fresh” 4.0 SP1 repository and see if the problem continues?

Cheers,

  • Ryan

Hi Ryan…

All sorted… Max2010 and Max2011 rendering fine (even changing the .py back to the original)

I talked with the IT guys and it seems the deadline 4.0 SP1 install was on a totally fresh linux machine.
So no upgrading or overinstalling.

They did report an early permissions error, but thought these were fixed with some recursive permissions command (sorry im not a linux user, if you want more details for future, let me know)
This afternoon they deleted all the files in the repository and re-installed… worked like a charm…
What they think is, that running the recursive permissions command maybe still held a ‘user’ profile and not an ‘owner’ (they banded round numbers 700 and 777). So newly added files got screwed up permissions. The re-install on the re-configured samba (??) mustve corrected the permissions.

Again im sorry for being vague… or misquoting through recollection… Please let me know if you need proper details… otherwise - all good now!

Thanks for your help.

No problem! Glad to hear that everything is working now.

Cheers,

  • Ryan
