A Sure way to Crash C4D on Mac OS X...

So, here’s a file that will probably crash your C4D. No force quit, nothing.

Open the scene, and render. It renders fine and fast. Only 3,000,000 particles
Activate “Enable Particle Repopulation” and render again. I know it’s a bit silly to use 0.1, but humour me.
Let the render initiate, open the console and wait for the progress to reach 50-60%, then stop the render…
C4D goes in a spinning wheel of death, and you can’t force quit.
The rest of the system works though.

Hope this helps

There is the same problem also in Windows.

are you keeping an eye on memory use? low values may use a ton of particles and require more ram than you have. just a guess

that’s the first thing I do. Running into VRam is a known “slowdown” in this case there was plenty available. It’s definitely not a RAM issue.
Did you follow my steps? Did the render stop successfully?

Thanks

I’ll take a look to see if I can reproduce the problem. Thanks for reporting it.

This turns out to be a problem with our render cancellation.

We were able to track it down, and it will be fixed in the next beta release. Thanks again for reporting the problem!

I’m glad I could be of help.
But this is why we’re here in the first place

Thanks for fixing the bug(s)

good news
