Why can’t I see any Logs in the info windows in the Monitor, when the job has been suspended?
I log a ton of info prior to actually rendering anything and I want to be able to see the logs as I used to in prior versions of deadline in the monitor when I have to suspend a job.
When I let the job finish, the Log is there suddenly, but prior to that the log window is empty.
Having looked into this a bit, it looks like we haven’t stored log data until the completion of the task it’s connected to, at least as far back as I was able to look. Can you verify what version you were able to see logs on a job that was suspended mid render without anything actually completing?
Well, it was in Deadline 5.2 and I was used to this for troubleshooting and development of scripts (having them print out a ton of info just to see how the program works or doesn’t work), but now I have to have a task completed before I get to see the Log.
Hi,
Something you might like, is the new v6+ stream a slave’s log to your machine, by right-clicking on a slave -> “Connect to Slave Log…” as this will be real-time 'ish.
I don’t remember a log being saved for jobs that are suspended in mid-render in v5 or earlier. Maybe, you could mark the job as failed or completed to force a log to be pushed to the job and then become available in the monitor? Personally, I like the new stream log feature as it helps to debug stuff / give an insight into what’s happening on a machine.
Cheers,
Mike
