AE CS5.5 job as CS6.0 Job?

So I’m trying to work around Adobe’s asinine licensing in CS5.5 where you can no longer render on a network node by rendering CS5.5 jobs through CS6. I don’t see any technical reasons why this shouldn’t work except how to configure it in deadline. Can you tell a CS5.5 AE job to render in CS6?

You have a few options here:

  1. If you are submitting from the Monitor, you could select CS6 as the version to render with.

  2. If you are submitting from within AE, you could configure the AE plugin so that the CS5.5 path points to the CS6 render executable.

  3. You could open the project in CS6 and submit to Deadline.

Hopefully one of those solutions will work for you!

This is one of the major reasons why I skipped CS5.5 and waited for 6.
However, IIRC, the issue was tied up with a 1 time serial number entry popup dialog which could potentially be handled by Deadline’s .NET popup handler regex code. Sorry, haven’t got the time right now, but a google should show up an Adobe blog post which identifies the nuts and bolts of what it would take to hack it and then you might be in luck with getting your farm nodes ‘licensed’ for AE. All is well in CS6 but that’s not much use here. Otherwise, Ryan’s alternatives are logical and all show promise.
