After Effects 2021 / 2022 - exit code: 0 error but completes tasks

Hi everyone,
I’m going crazy over this error.

I have a group of graphic designers rendering with After Effects 2021 and 2022.
I’ve tried all formats necessary for the group:

  • MOV
  • JPG
  • TIF
  • PNG

Every time they launch anything in farm this is the output log:

The absurd thing about all this is that it does complete the render but reports it as not.
Everything is rendered and saved where it is supposed to be saved and correctly, but deadline only reports errors.

The reason the After Effects application plugin fails is because it didn’t see any lines it recognized as a successful render. We’ve only got handlers for English, French and German. We don’t have a handler for Italian however. You’ll have to either run the render node in English or add your own handler.

To add a handler, in DeadlineRepository10\plugins\AfterEffects\AfterEffects.py around line 118 add a line with the Italian equivalent to “Finished composition”, like this line:

self.AddStdoutHandlerCallback( ".*Finished composition.*" ).HandleCallback += self.HandleRenderSuccess #English

becomes (if the translator is correct :crossed_fingers: ):

self.AddStdoutHandlerCallback( ".*Composizione finita.*" ).HandleCallback += self.HandleRenderSuccess #Italian

However I don’t see that line in the log so it may be that despite the exit code there’s something amiss.

In general since we depend on parsing the output from the renderer to know what’s going on running the renderer in English is going to behave better.

thank you very much.
To be honest I installed all the After Effects versions in English (International) in order to avooid this problem, but it needed the “ae_force_english.txt” file in the Documents folder anyway.
I diidn’t switch to Italian in the end but you guided me in the right direction.
