After Effects progress

Hi,

From what I can tell Deadline Monitor is reporting AE ‘Progress’ within the tasks panel as a percentage of the total job for each task. The result being that if you have 4 tasks and they are all at 25% the job is complete (4 x 25% = 100%). Have I got that right?

My question is, assuming the above is right, would it be possible to have the ‘Task Progress’ in the ‘Jobs’ panel for AE jobs report back as a sum of the tasks?

e.g.
Tasks panel
Task ID 1 = 10%
Task ID 2 = 13%
Jobs panel
Task Progress = 23%

It’s just that as an overview the task progress just sits on 0% until it completes.

Thanks,
Chris

The issue is that the job object currently has no knowledge of the individual task progresses. A job’s task count is updated as its tasks change states, and the job just calculates its progress based on those counts.

We would like to do something the way you’ve described, but we’re concerned about the amount of updates being done on the job object. We might just do it for jobs with only a few tasks, since it seems this is only an issue if the job has a few tasks. For example, if a job has 200 tasks, the progress based on the task counts gives a very good idea of the overall progress.

Cheers,

OK, thanks for getting back. Not a biggie. It was just a question from one of our artists here.

From other posts I can see AE is a bit funny with the way it reports its progress. It works, that’s the main thing!
