Just checking if this is just me…
When rendering passes in 3dmax you get a folder created for each pass, however the output files are not going into the folders and when it comes to stitching the tiling, the file names or locations don’t correspond resulting in errors. also the names of the files dont correspond with the draft config file causing more errors…
Hi,
I have logged a ticket to investigate this further based on your email.
Thanks Mike, i just thought i’d ask incase we’re doing something wrong, i can’t beleive we’re the only ones using this workflow
For anyone else reading this thread. Myself and the user sat down and did some testing together. We found 3 potential issues which I will summarise below for others. A proposed patch has been sent over to the user for validation.
-
The specific “VRayAlpha” RE does not get created by the V-Ray render engine when it’s own VFB is enabled (regardless of the RAW and/or Split Channels being enabled). Subsequent errors of “file not found” or “tile missing” is as a result of this ‘root’ issue.
-
There was an edge case where the “Set Split” and “Set RAW” functions when NOT Local Rendering would not work as expected.

A SMTD Sanity Check warning of “Duplicate RE file paths” is indeed now correct given that ALL SMTD “Pathing Options” settings are now fully respected by V-Ray. However, the sanity check was improved to skip if V-Ray VFB is enabled as the warning is not applicable.
