I see the first technical preview of Azure Stack is scheduled to be released on Friday. Have you guys gotten any inside info on it? Will it be feasible to deploy on smaller Windows shops such as ourselves? We’re already running Hyper-V on almost all of our farm.
This article sums it up quite nicely:

Single machine only for the preview, until possible Q4 1.0 release delivery. MS want it to be like a ‘local version of Azure’; priorities being compute, storage and networks. I see this being a viable compute option, especially for Windows shops that would rather use MS than go down the OpenStack route. We would probably just need to fork our current Azure cloud plugin and create an Azure_Private cloud plugin, in case of the odd difference. I wonder what the cost will be…
Probably something worth looking at in Q4…
Yeah, an easy to deploy OpenStack is what I’m hoping for. And then it wouldn’t hurt to make it pretty seamless in adding additional compute resources remotely if necessary/feasible. Fits in well too with the cloud/local hybrid Deadline 8 plans.
