hey folks,
I’m sure everyone is working as hard as possible – we’d love to test the basic functionality of TP & Krakatoa… any idea if this will be possible soon? I’m sure it’s on the list, but hopefully not too far down there!
thanks
To precise… Basic = Tp goup Picker…
Look at Afterburn and \ or Fume Fx and or \ Pyrocloster …
Tp Compatibility without treating every group ( and child) as Separate System is like Pflow Compatibility without event or an even more accurate Comparaison ; Like a Cheesburger without Cheese !
thanks

I would have to agree, love to see some TP support soon.
the ability to interparticle collisons would make for some very cool effects
cascading sand comes to mind, yeah like that movie with webs an stuff, heh.
Ok guys,
You have our attention.
Let’s talk about what kind of Workflow / User Interface exposure you would imagine when working with Krakatoa and TP.
Let’s assume we want to expose Particle Groups for now. Having experience with Afterburn / FumeFX, how do you want the user to select which groups from a TP to render?
Think of this as brainstorming - at this point, since we have no GUI implementation whatsoever, you can shape the design anyway you want, and we will try to pick the best approach when we actually put the feature into Krakatoa.
Thanks, Bobo,
A couple ideas for selecting TP groups:
- Split the current “Thinking Particles” button to include a “Groups” button, which opens a small interface to add groups (example from Pyrocluster).
- Another way might be adding a new specific roll-out with checkboxes to select groups.
------------------------
Most important beyond groups, I think, is making sure the “Increment Other Seeds” correctly affects all enabled TP operators (especially Matterwaves, Random helper, Surface and Volume Position, etc). Obviously without randomization we will always get the same Krakatoa result.
If a new TP rollout is added maybe have specific buttons to increment specific TP-type of seeds? I don’t know what would work best…
And hopefully the NOSEED naming can be applied to TP, as that will definitely come into play.
Thanks!
Thanks for the ideas!
I think a combination of both would work well - a new rollout with two listboxes listing all groups in all TP objects and moving groups left and right to include / exclude.
(Correct me if I am wrong, but one can have any number of TP objects in the scene, each one with its own groups, right?)
So the naming could be something like
All TP Groups:
------------------------
Thinking01.Group01
Thinking01.SomeOtherGroup
Thinking02.Group01
Thinking02.Bobo
As for NOSEED and seed incrementation, I am happy to announce that it was implemented today. NOSEED is detected either in the TP object’s name to exclude the whole TP object with all its Dynamic Sets, or in the Comments field of a Dynamic Set. I feel it is easier to add in the comment than to the name of the dynamic set itself.
Disclaimer: This does not mean TP will be officially supported in 1.0. It only means we are working on it.
yes multiple thinking particles icons can be in the same scene all though its mostly not a great idea to have more than 1 in most cases atm…
as for the disclamer … i guess if you r saying that it means you needed to say it ! i think its good for krakatoa to have a real rule based system compatible with … i would even go further and put a krakatoa helper operator in tp list that could call some krakatoa seeds and different parameters inside a tp based on user rules and needs…
Is that still mean someone here will be able to test those new "working on it " implementation ?
thanks

that’s great news, thanks, Bobo.
the NOSEED in the comment field is great, too – nice work.
look forward to testing it when it’s ready…
