Batch name in submission

Hi,

I thought I read in one of the release notes that you could now specify a Batch Name when submitting a 3dsmax job, but I might have dreamt that, or I cant find it! Could it be added if its not already?

Thanks,
Mark

Hey Mark,

The batch name is actually set automatically by our submitters if more than one job is being submitted. For example, if you’re submitting a tile render that has a dependent assembly job, they will be submitted as a batch.

Cheers,
Ryan

arr ok, cool, I didnt make it up. Could it be added to the submitter?

Hey Mark,
Could I draw your attention to this similar request and our reasoning why there is a more powerful way…viewtopic.php?f=11&t=13079&p=58761#p58647
Thoughts? What kind of info are you wanting to store in the batch name?

Ok, looks interesting, so that suggests there is a way to have the batch added at submission.

For me its just when I’m sending lots of separate files, where I’m doing something in the scene file as I go, such as add xrefs, changes settings etc, when I submit them they can all be given the same batch. It is easy enough to do it all through the monitor once they are all sat there so its not a big thing, just a request!

Mark

Yep, this is now automated as of the latest v7.1 beta.

Cool, I’m running beta 4 I believe, is this in that one, or the next release?

Actually, I’m getting myself confused now. Automated “BatchName” support in SMTD was added in beta 2 (This is what Ryan was referring to). Customisation of the “ExtraInfo” columns by means of executing maxscript, referenced via an external lookup file: “SubmitMaxToDeadline_ExtraInfoFormats.ini” was added in beta 4.
