I am submitting single frame Modo tests to be tile rendered.
I have all settings correct as far as I can make out.
I have 4 concurrent tasks with 40 frames per task, single frame range, output file type set to multifile png.
In the tile rendering tab in job submission, the only options I can change is enable tile rendering, ‘frame to tile render’ and the number of tiles in x & y. (8x5 to give 40 tiles)
The other two checkboxes are greyed out and do not become available. However the ‘Submit dependent assembly job’ is checked but greyed out.
The job is submitted and renders all tiles correctly across the farm, then it completes and nothing else happens. I have lots of tiles but the auto-merge/assembly for the job doesn’t start or seemingly work.
Cheers,
Tim.
Hey Tim,
Auto-assembly currently isn’t support for the multifile png format. That’s why it’s greyed out as an option. That was the case with Deadline 5 as well.
Cheers,
Hi Ryan,
Thanks for letting me know. Is there going to be support for this file type in the future, or is it just not possible?
Cheers,
Tim.
Hey Tim,
It’s is a possibility. Our plan for the future is to replace the tile assembler with Draft, so development on the tile assembler is currently on hold. Once it’s in Draft though, then we can look at expanding its feature set.
Cheers,
Hi all!
As i read here: thinkboxsoftware.com/qr-draft-for-deadline/
Draft is free for users with an active Deadline support and maintenance contract.
Does it also apply for Beta testing?
thanks
It is bundled with the beta installers by default I think.
Tim.
It’s bundled with the Repository installer, but you need to get a Draft license from our sales team. Shoot an email to sales@thinkboxsoftware.com and they’ll help you out.
Cheers,
Ryan

LMtools shows no Deadline license error and all are available, under a status enquiry. Slaves show no license error either.
I haven’t yet managed to run a Draft tile assembly. EXR specified in each case.
Ryan, I’ve just read your previous post. Is this failing because I don’t have a Draft license? That would make sense, but I thought Draft was included within Deadline’s license, rather than a separate entity and license.
Tim.
Yep. A Draft license is required to execute Draft or Draft Tile Assembler. Draft comes with Deadline for free if you are up to date on your annual subs.
Sorry what do you mean by subs? I have 11 Deadline licenses, does this mean I should be able to use Draft?
Cheers,
Tim.
Hi,
Draft ships with Deadline (check out on your repository the /draft/samples directory - don’t move the draft directory!) and is free for users on an active Deadline subscription. You can request via sales@thinkboxsoftware.com for a quote for annual Deadline subscription if you’re not already on it as well as cutting a Draft license for each Deadline v6 license you own and have on annual subscription. (You get an initial 12 months subs[subscription] on purchase of Deadline, so this covers you for the first 12 months after the purchase date).

Draft won’t run unless you have a Draft license running on your license server. A Slave automatically updates itself whenever it picks up a Draft job, so no install is required.
