beta 9 feedback

  1. Would be good if the new “Job Scheduling settings” description of each option was actually displayed just like the beta 9 release announcement notes, but within the repo options dialog, as a quick glance explanation? For Deadline beginner users, I think this is going to be a bit confusing.

  2. “Required Assets” frame padding functionality needs a frame offset variable per asset in the list, which allows for a spinner to shift the frame offset to handle 0-index / 1-index based file sequences or indeed, a general frame offset when the frame range has changed but the assets file sequence hasn’t!

  3. When you click on “edit” an existing “RequiredAssets” file, the resulting file browser window on Windows that appears does something strange to the display of the entire filename as displayed in the “File name:” section at the bottom. It’s almost as if it right-justifies the text for some reason?

  4. Can we add “Connect to Pulse Log…” to the Pulse RC menu? I don’t quite get why it’s in the “Tools” menu?

+1

Related note: if pulse hasnt had a ‘last status update’ for a while, could it get marked stalled?

  1. Hmm, we don’t really have the real-estate to do that. This will be documented though in the Repository Options section of the documentation.

  2. This will probably have to wait until Deadline 7.0. Ideally, we’ll want to support separate frame dependency options for each dependency (job, script, or asset). It’s already on the roadmap for 7.0.

  3. Seems to be a Qt quirk. Not sure if we can do much about it.

  4. It’s in the Tools menu because currently when you connect to Pulse, you just connect to the Pulse that’s configured in the Repository Options. Right now, you should only ever be running a single Pulse. If we ever get to the point where running multiple Pulses is supported (ie: for redundancy or failover), we can definitely revisit this.

  5. Stalled Pulse detection is currently on the roadmap for 7.0.

Cheers,
