beta7 reinstall requirement

Noticed this: “If you are upgrading from a previous Deadline 7 beta version, you must reinstall the Deadline Client on your machines. Auto-upgrading will not work properly if upgrading from a previous beta version.”

I know that during the beta process, a lot can change, but i’m curious if you guys might still anticipate more full client reinstall requirements to happen in the 7 beta? (We just finished reinstalling due to a previous change, and its quite the undertaking that requires inter-departmental scheduling etc.)

While we can’t guarantee it, we don’t anticipate it at this point, so once you’re on beta 7, you should be able to use the auto-upgrading going forward.

There will still be some breaking changes in beta 8, but those shouldn’t affect the ability to auto-upgrade.

Cool, i see that the ‘breakage’ in beta7 is actually due to making the auto updating more robust and handle more cases, so its definitely worth it
