C4D R18 and DL8.0.14.1

Hello,

The CommandLineRenderer simply does not want to work for us.

We always get this Error report:

Cheers
Thomas

Quick question. Maxon requires you to have C4D “Command-Line” licenses for network rendering now. Do you own and have available on your network, such licenses?

Yes, the commandline licenses are available

Alrighty. Can you resubmit the job with the option: “Use Batch Plugin” disabled. Does the job render ok then? If not, can you provide an updated log report?

If I enter it in the CMD so it works.

Commandline.exe -nogui -render “C:\Test_Do.c4d” -frame 0 0 -oimage “c:\Take_02_” -omultipass “c:\Take_02_MP_”

ok, thanks. If you open up a command prompt on an example rendernode machine and paste this string into the command prompt window and hit execute; does it render correctly? (You will need to re-add your commented out ------ text)

"C:\Program Files\MAXON\CINEMA 4D R18\Commandline.exe" -nogui -render "C:\Users\---------\AppData\Local\Thinkbox\Deadline8\slave\------\jobsData\58ca8a475945ff3428b1bfc0\Test_Do.c4d" -frame 82 82 -oimage "\\ds-rz-01\3d\projekte\c4d_testprojekt\images\Take_02_" -omultipass "\\--------\3d\projekte\c4d_testprojekt\images\Take_02_MP_"

If it still fails, then there is an issue with this specific scene file and we have successfully eliminated Deadline form the equation now. So, it will be a case of slowly removing elements from the C4D scene file to narrow down the issue here. Does this scene file open up on other machines ok and renders?

it’s only a box without textures…
With cmd input it works.
I can open the file on mac and windows workstations…

I have only deleted slave names there

next test…

i run this line from deadline error report:

and it works too

Hmmm…interesting. Can you send us this test .c4d file?

Ah…I went to startup C4D here and it looks like our annual NFR licenses need renewing with Maxon…that will take a little while to resolve.

In the meantime, try submitting with these options disabled:

“Submit Cinema 4D Scene”
“Enable Local Rendering”
“Use Batch Plugin”

Scene file:
Test03.rar (72.8 KB)
Test_Do.rar (113 KB)

Error:

I wish I could boot up a copy of C4D to help you today…

Silly question, but I found this old post on our forum from 2015:
forums.thinkboxsoftware.com/vie … 515#p58219

Is your machine up-to-date with Windows Updates and been rebooted since you installed R18? Maybe try a reboot anyway?

Sometimes it can be so easy …
I had not found the post.

it works now! Thanks Mike!

Nice one! I’m going to add this as a “Known Error Message” in our C4D docs as its not the first time this thing has bitten someone. Thanks for your patience on this one. :sunglasses:
