C4D texture mapping not working cross platform

We have some C4Dv13 scenes created on a Mac which we’re trying to render on both Mac and PC slaves using DLv5.2 but the PCs fail to render, and though there is no descriptive error (just a very generic “STDOUT: error rendering project”) I’m sure it’s because the textures aren’t mapping correctly (when you open the project on a PC it returns path errors when you check the textures). I’ve tried explicitly setting the texture paths on the PC slaves in C4D Preferences but still doesn’t work. Is there a fix, settings tweak or workaround for this? thanks

Hello,

Due to the fact that C4D scene files are not text based, we can’t apply mapped paths to them, and therefore we can’t change the paths based on OS like we can usually. I am not sure what the solution would be other than setting paths to be explicitly for one OS, and then setting up a group to assign it to of machines only running that OS. Hope that helps.

Hello,

I just wanted to give a bit of a correction here. There is actually an option in our submitter to export the project and all of its assets (including textures) to a network location before rendering. This “fixes” all the paths so that they are relative, and
thus will work in a cross platform environment.

Hope that helps.
