Hi there everyone.
Is it possible to save Attenuation Maps like in 3Ds Mas and somehow load them to be able to render the shadows of the particles on geometric objects.
And if its possible maybe someone can point out how it´s done.
Thanks in advance!
Frankly we haven’t figured it out yet.
In KMX is was relatively easy because the SDK allows for custom shadow generators (pretty much every renderer comes with its own - Scanline, VRay, Brazil, Krakatoa). In Maya, we have nearly solved the problem (for V-Ray at least), but we haven’t released it officially yet. For C4D, we will have to explore what the SDK allows…
I´ve also seen that Krakatoa Atmospheric Effect in Max.
As I am working with Vray in C4D a lot. Maybe it would be possible to write something to submit this effect to the Vray Env. Fog.
I know that Samir Kharchi made it possible to render simulations (Fire, Smoke) made with his DPIT FX fluid simulator within Vray for C4D.
No (see my previous answer). We could not find a way to implement a solution with what’s in the CINEMA 4D SDK. We will try harder in the future. Only shadow-from-geometry works.
You might be able to use a PRT Volume or Surface from the shadow-receiving object to catch shadows for compositing, but I realize that’s a poor solution.
