I have experience with 3dsmax and vray and deadline. The 3dmax deadline integration scripts allow me to submit an distributed render job in deadline or start an interactive dr render job with deadline. This way the renderslaves are reserved for dr render.
Is there a beta integration for cinema 4d R16 and vray for submitting dr jobs in deadline?
Hi,
VRay DBR for C4D support has been added to our VRaySpawner plugin recently in our current private beta program.
Feel free to contact via email: beta [at] thinkboxsoftware [dot] com for access.
Out of interest, are you looking for just a monitor submitter here or an integrated C4D submitter UI to reserve slaves for VRay with C4D?
A Monitor submitter has already been added. Check out the beta for more info.
Unfortunately, due to a lack of API functionality in V-Ray in C4D, we are unable to update a machine list of the V-Ray ‘slaves’ in C4D when a “reserve” job is submitted to Deadline. This is a limitation of V-Ray in C4D, so it would be great if you could raise this issue with Chaos Group as well, as we would love to add this functionality for you! The more voices the better
I will check the beta! Vray for c4d unforntunately is not developed by chaos group. It comes from Laublab KG. I will drop them a mail with a feature request!
I’ve been looking for some info regarding distributed rendering in vray 6 for cinema 4d. I know this thread wasn’t updated in a long time, but i give it a shot.
I was wondering if there were any updates regarding the c4d submitter and dr since chaos group restarted the development of the engine? From what i can tell from the UI of vray the machine list is still not updated. Not even from the vray settings.
I currently use c4d 2023 with vray 6 and the deadline submitter works fine for animations. But I was wondering if there are any planed updates for the vray spawner? It currently only support up til cinema 4D R18 and i can only submit jobs from the deadline monitor.
Or to be honest the preferred option would be to be able to submit DR jobs directly from the c4d submitter. Just assign the machines and the worker would start up the vray render server for them.
Or is it possible to setup c4d file and submit it with DR turned on and the machines that have the vray render server constantly running just pick up the commandline job?
It would be better to use the submitter script for everything but I’m ok with any solution
Hello @zainali!
Sorry for the late reply, and thank you for you fast response. Is it possible that you accidentally sent the the same file twice? I think the param file is missing.
Sorry for the late reply but, i totally forgot to get back to You.
The submission script works great! The exe runs in he background on all machines and when i set the job to complete they all stop correctly.
The only thing i had to modify is the “launch vray render server” alias vray.exe file location as its default path is a versioned c4d folder.
I still find it a bummer that vray didn’t figure out something so that we could see the online dbr machines stright from c4d but i guess i just have to wait. I hope the community can pressure them to develope this feature
We are slowly transitioning to c4d 2024 and i think i can modify the files to make it work. Bu i have two questions to make it sure:
Am i correct that the VraySpawnersubmission.py only needs a “2024” added to the “version box” selection part of Cinema 4d?
with the vrayspawner.param i only need to duplicate the section you made for c4d 2023 and change the index, name and path for c4d 2024?
