Collapse to leave the inputs would be great

It would be really cool if the collapse option in a node leaves the inputs out. Because that’s how you work practically - you build the system, then you tweak it. Collapsing with only the inputs out would be great for tweaking a visually minimal setup - it’s always a challenge to open a busy flow and identify where are the controls.

Thanks for the idea.
It will be tricky to implement, but I will see what can be done.
Alternatively, I could add an option that dims the operators and makes the inputs stand out (since they are mostly green)

Dimming them out would be very useful too. And/or bolding the names of the one that get manually renamed.

Basically like a TP Blackbox right? I like the idea too

I have no doubt that it would be tricky else you would have already implemented it

Try the attached prototype.

There is a new option in the View menu (also accessible via Shift+Ctrl+L) which places Input Nodes on the left side of the editor, similar to how Outputs are docked on the right side. By default, only the Value inputs will be placed there, but a sub-menu provides several filters for most Input node types except Texture which is a kind of an Operator now since it can have input sockets. So you can select to put Channels, Geometry and Values on the left, while the rest are floating…

Collapsing the whole flow or a portion of it will keep the left-docked Inputs visible, so you can double-click the Output(s) and will be left with just Inputs and Outputs. Also docked Inputs won’t show in the Navigator, and should order correctly underneath BLOP inputs without overlapping.

This is WIP and might not be working perfectly yet, but as far as I could test does what was requested without too much code change.
Give it a try!
