Let start by saying this is a really good bit of software!
When exporting my mesh as a .PLY file I get the following message.
Is it something my end I’m doing wrong or is this a bug?

That looks like a bug! Thanks for the report, one of the developers will follow up with more details!
This bug has been fixed in the latest release. The fixes also included improved STL saving and saving STL’s with color information.
