I just had a quick look at the Krakatoa for C4d, and I was wondering if the plan was eventually to have similar tools to the other versions ie KrkatoaMX? For example PRT loaders with the same capabilities.

I would say the long term plan is to do that.
Right now, the KC4D bridge exposes the parameters required by Krakatoa SR to render a scene. In other words, the processing of PRT Volumes (Krakatoa Mesh Source), PRT Loaders (Krakatoa File Source) etc. is performed by the renderer, not by the scene object. The PRT Loader DOES have some of the capabilities needed to read a PRT sequence and display it in the viewport, but the PRT Volume level set conversion and particle generation, or the Fractal generation are totally outside of C4D and performed at render time by Krakatoa SR, hence the lack of viewport display.

Now that we are taking over, we could look into bringing some of that technology back into the host app (which we did with Krakatoa MY for example where PRT Volume, Fractal, Surface and Loader as well as Magma and Modifier nodes are all implemented within Maya and pass their particle streams to the renderer).

This difference is part of why KC4D is going to be cheaper than the KMY initial release.

I believe the PRT Loader needs the most attention and ASAP. It needs to be able to load multiple sequences, control which of them show up in the viewport and in the renderer, do more about retiming, percentage control in the view and in the renderer, automate the handling of partition file names, expose more display options and so on.

Of course. But we also have to spend money to make money. Time is also money, so we cannot wait for every possible feature to be added before releasing, and we cannot add everything we want in the short time we have until the planned release.
So it will be a matter of balancing “can” and “need” and also see what is the low-hanging fruit that will bring the most benefit with the least time effort.

For example, I expect the PRT Loader to be improved first before the PRT Volume starts showing particles in the C4D viewport…
In another example, getting colored icons and Capitalized Control Names in every dialog took just about an hour (if anyone is interested, I can post the modified files so you can update your installations).

Having some of the basic functionality of the prt loader to start with would be good. Looking forward to see how this grows.
