I’m trying to create a Quicktime using the H264 codec but I’m getting a “could not open codec” error. Do we need to install the codec separately? I tried changing the file extension to .mp4 but still got the same error.
Any thoughts?

You shouldn’t need to install the codec separately. To double-check, could you tell me the contents of your draft directory?
One thing I noticed later on, you’re trying to use an odd number for the height:

Could you add a line to print out proxyWidth and proxyHeight to make sure they’re both even? If one or both are odd, does changing them to even fix the error message?

Should there be a local Draft install on the render node? Draft does work for us currently creating MJPG quicktimes. Below are the contents of the Draft directory in the DL repository. I’ll try the odd resolution fix and see if that helps.

Looks like the files are all there. If I recall correctly, the way Deadline does things is it copies the required Draft files from the repository to the local node when running a job.

I’ve tried your script with a standard Python install, the dpython.exe python that comes with DL and deadlinecommand -ExecuteScript, but with all of them it fails to find Draft. How should I calling this script? Draft does work through DL so I know it works.

Have you tried a normal “Submit -> DraftSubmission”? Running Draft outside of deadline requires some environment variables to be set that get set automatically by Deadline. (Using the submission script will require you to set things like the input file, but that’s fine… the script just ignores those parameters, so pick anything.)
deadlinecommand -ExecuteScript doesn’t set up the necessary environment variables. (I think if you want to use deadlinecommand, you need to create a job file.)
Submitting through the Draft submitter worked as expected. I’ll be trying the even frame numbers next.
