I’m trying to use a render farm in Houdini using Deadline.
It’s a HDAProcessor task run on the farm. The task uses all the cores on the worker, but it seems can not work with maximun cpu usage. The cpu usage is like a roller-coaster which result in more task time.
Network bandwidth seems is not too much.
3.PDGDeadline plugin and python sandbox run in python3
4.Only one task executes on the worker. and concurrent task limit set to 1.
I’m not sure - Deadline should just be starting up Houdini and letting it go, the only issue would be with CPU affinity but you’re not using that.
We (Thinkbox) didn’t make the Deadline PDG plugin, SideFX did. I’d ask in their forums as well, maybe they’ve seen this before and never brought it up with us?
If the only issue about deadlien is the cpu affinity. Maybe I could do more test about it.
I’d like to specify the cpu affinity in order to see if it could use 100% specified cpu.
I will sync the results here later.
Thanks for your reminding, i’d like to post this problem in sidefx forum to see if anyone has had this before~
hey @zhang1 , I have the same issue.
I have houdini installed on separate PC dedicatet for running sim- usualy i use hquee or remote desktop connection to run sims.
Anyway - it underperforms comparing with my working machine quite a lot - CPU use only 40% of its capacity (maximum peak, usualy its even less), no idea what is happening, but its definitelly questoin on Side FX support…
