One of my big problems is exporting meshes to 3DS MAX and it is hard to handle big mesh sets and maybe Sequoia can create outside or normal side only then
it starts saving 50% of loading size.
I thought about this since using Frost.
It is more time to clean meshes than create meshes.
Thanks for the feedback! This is a common request and we are actively working on providing new meshing modes to address both the heavy triangle counts as well as providing singled sided meshes. In the meantime, have you used the mesh simplification at all? Is it useful for you? If it’s not, can you share what you would like it to do differently?
I too wanted to chime in to say that we are eagerly waiting for the single-sided mesh option, with the ability to bake on textures. I have used the simplify mesh, and yes it is useful.
In my long Mesh Quality posts I’ve already outlined why I think that even with these additional tools the main algorithm isn’t great for general purpose use, but I’m very curious to hear what other people think of the results they’re getting.
I intend to update that page today with screenshots and examples (it was so much WIP that it ends with an unfinished sentence)
We are working on auto-creating those operators when the Mesher is created like we did for the culling and reduction.
In fact, we added a “Flatter” checkbutton that adds the Conform operator in Beta 20.
We still need to incorporate the Cull Faces By Normal Similarity though into the Mesher though…
